This website is the photo gallery for expeditions, journeys, and remote area research, that I have conducted over 40 years. Most of the early work was military then becoming geography field studies based, and over most of the last 25 years more mountain and wilderness. Along with my degree in Education and Geography at the University of Nottingham School of Education I did Design as my supporting subject. I have a passion for landscape. The reason for having a separate site away from the outdoor education and training website [see Links] is that so many people have asked about the photography, about the cameras, conditions, and composition of the photographs that I decided to display my favourites in the collection. There are about 7,000 in the whole collection. Although technically some of the portfolio here is pretty much ok, some is simply 'atmospheric' or my favourite, because it speaks to me to remind me of the event - or the hardship - or being 'there' to capture the moment. You are welcome to use the photos on the express condition that the copyright remains with B.J.Howard, and on the understanding that you acknowledge in writing or on the web my ownership; each photograph you see has been slightly digitally altered in some minor way; I retain the master copy as being proof of sole ownership. Updated 27.10.11
Cameras have been both film and digital based: Nikkormat FT2, Nikon Coolpix S6, Minolta Multi AF 150 Zoom, Olympus Trip (yes still using mine!), Canon Powershot G10, and an Olympus 'izoom60'
